Jacquinia keyensis is restricted to the West Indies (Cuba, Hispaniola, Jamaica, Bahamas, and Cayman Islands) and southernmost Florida. It is a shrub or a small tree (up to 6 m in height) growing on sand or exposed rocky ground, usually within the salt-spray community; 0-10 m. The leaves and thick, evergreen, and alternate; the fragrant white flowers are arranged in terminal racemes; berries orange-red. This species flowers year-round.
